Leeds General Infirmary investigated

26th July 2011

The Care Quality Commission has started an investigation into care at Leeds General Infirmary.

The hospital is one of 11 in the country that offer paediatric heart surgery. A spokesman for the CQC said last night: "The Children’s Heart Federation has expressed concern about heart surgery at Leeds. They have provided us with some information and these worries are now being investigated by senior staff. If it was felt necessary we could carry out an unannounced inspection visit to Leeds to assess the safety of services."
