Long term conditions strategy, have your say

3rd May 2012

The Department of Health is seeking public views on what should be covered by the cross-government long term conditions strategy.

Currently being drafted, the Department plans to publish the strategy towards the end of the year and it will be a high level vision, describing how it wants to see improvements in the lives of people with long term conditions in England. It wants to hear from people with long term conditions, carers, health professionals, commissioners, local authorities and the voluntary sector.

It is especially needed when you have numerous long term conditions. What is the strategy then? It should go hand in hand with patient - centred research linking to the social services. At the moment you are seen as a drain on system especially if they can't cure you like the Alzheimer sufferers. You are then rationed as a former GP told me finding serious delays in referrals when diagnosis not been found. Often this can cause serious deterioration.
