Look into babies' eyes to find out what's wrong

22nd February 2013

Scientists have said parents should look into their baby’s eyes to try and find out what is wrong with the infant.

They say that by listening to the pattern of the infant’s cries and checking whether their eyes are open or closed, parents can determine the reason for their distress such as whether the child is hungry, tired or needs changing. The University of Valencia team say that babies that are angry or afraid will keep their eyes open, but when a young child is in pain they will close their eyes.
