Maternity ward closed

A cockroach infestation has caused the closure of part of a maternity unit at a hospital in Greater Manchester.

A fumigation process was started at the unit affected at Rochdale Infirmary. Patients were treated at Fairfield Hospital in Bury, while deep cleaning at the unit was implemented. A hospital spokesman said they were left with no alternative but to temporarily close the unit and added: “As soon as the problem was discovered, action had to be taken very quickly.?
