Medical director at Mid Staffs resigns

30th March 2012

The medical director of Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust, Dr Manjit Obhrai, is to resign less than six months before the end of his contract.

Dr Obhrai joined the troubled trust in 2009 after the publication of the Healthcare Commission’s highly critical report into care at Stafford Hospital where one of the report’s findings was that the medical staff at the trust felt marginalised by management. Dr Obhrai said he was leaving to "concentrate on other projects in the wider NHS".
