Memory clinics plan for dementia

3rd February 2009

The government has announced it is to start nationwide "memory clinics" aimed at spotting and treating dementia.

The NHS will spend £150 million over a five year period on the new strategy. Health Secretary Alan Johnson said: "I know that for many people, diagnosis can be difficult, care can be patchy and without adequate support, families can be under huge stress. All that must change."
