Men healthier, women live longer

16th January 2008

New information released by the Office of National Statistics has shown that men's health is getting better more quickly than women's.

The figures show that a woman who was born in 2004 can "expect to live to the age of 81 but the last 10 years and nine months of their lives will be spent in poor health". A man born at the same time would live a shorter life but "will spend only eight years and nine months in ill health".
