Men lie more than women

29th August 2012

Research carried out by BMW Financial Services has suggested that men are more likely to lie than women.

Figures show that on average men tell three lies a day, or almost 1100 a year, compared to 720 lies a year, or two a day by women. However, the subject matter is significant and women, for example, are more likely to lie about new clothes or pretend to be busy to avoid a phone call. Karen Pine, Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, says lying is an essential trait in mankind.
