Mid Essex chief resigns

10th January 2011

Professor Graham Ramsay has stepped down as chief executive of Mid Essex Hospital Services Trust with immediate effect.

He has left the post he held since September 2009 to "pursue new challenges within the NHS". A paper submitted to the most recent board meeting reports the trust had "a lack of strategic direction, leading to a lack of tangible strategy or objectives". Professor Ramsay’s departure follows the trust undergoing "an extensive organisational health diagnostic" using a McKinsey model in October and November.
