Mid Staffs gets new chairman

15th July 2009

The trust which runs Stafford Hospital - which had its emergency care labelled “appalling” by the Healthcare Commission - has appointed a new chief executive and a new chairman.

Antony Sumara is taking over as chief executive with Sir Stephen Moss appointed as chairman. Former chief executive Martin Yeates resigned in March, along with chairman Toni Brisby, before a report into the hospital was published after it emerged that about 400 more people died at Stafford Hospital between 2005 and 2008 than would be expected.
