Millennium problems at Taunton

4th July 2007

Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust has delayed deploying Cerner Millennium software due to “severe security problems.?

The software had been due to go live from June 29 but the BMA’s Annual Representative Meeting was told the latest go-live date had been cancelled because there remained “three to six absolutely outstanding and severe security problems with the software.? Consultant gynaecologist David Wrede explained the problems were causing Taunton to delay deployment of the patient administration system.

The trust confirmed that the go-live had been postponed, but refused to elaborate on the reasons.
