Misleading info from breast screening

20th February 2009

UK experts have warned women not to be "misled" about the side-effects caused by NHS breast screenings.

A group of experts wrote in The Times that the leaflets provided as part of the NHS screening programme did not provide objective information about treatment and tests.

"The screening programme produces a variety of leaflets and has an extensive website to provide the information that women need to make an informed decision," said Julietta Patnick, director of the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
