Monitor to become more aggressive in FT scrutiny

29th April 2010

Monitor says that it is to become more aggressive in its scrutiny of foundation trusts over the next year in order to identify those in financial difficulties at an early stage.

The regulatory body’s business plan for 2010/11 says it will hold a yearly review to try and “head-off challenges to a foundation trust’s financial viability at an earlier stage” and address the trusts that had become unviable. Monitor also suggests that there will be an increase in the number of interventions it makes during the current financial year.
