More deaths from C diff

4th April 2008

Three more deaths have been linked to the hospital bug Clostridium difficile in hospitals in Northern Ireland.

Figures show that there were 40 more cases of C diff in the nine hospitals in the Northern Trust area in March with the outbreak mainly affecting the Antrim Area and Causeway hospitals. The trust said it was seeing a downward trend but that it would take time to bring the ongoing outbreak of C diff under control. Intensive cleaning has been carried out in all the trust hospitals to help combat the outbreak.
