NCP to merge with NICE

The National Prescribing Centre (NPC) is to be merged into the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) as part of the reform programme set out in the government’s White Paper.

Management at the NPC, which provides recommendations to the NHS on measures to improve cost-effective prescribing, decided there was a strong argument for its work to be integrated into NICE. The Department of Health has approved the planned merger and with discussions taking place with a view to the change coming into effect next April.
