NCT offer support to all maternity units in the UK

2nd May 2008

NCT, the UK’s leading charity on pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, has announced today that it can offer help to every hospital in the UK to perform a self review of their maternity unit and provide recommendations on how it can be improved. The DIY service is part of the charity’s long-standing commitment to support maternity professionals and enhance the experience of expectant mothers.

The announcement coincides with the launch of the NCT’s 2008 Professional catalogue, which aims to support healthcare workers by offering the profession the very latest products, resources, information and teaching aids.

Belinda Phipps, Chief Executive of the NCT said: “Most births in the UK still tend to take place in a hospital setting, which vary widely in provision and facilities. Our aim is to improve the birth experience of all parents and, since we have vast experience in this area, we are the unique position of being able to offer advice and support to hospitals on how the environments in their maternity units can be improved.?

Belinda continues; “The new catalogue strengthens our offering to the healthcare workforce by showcasing innovative equipment that can help those working with expectant and new parents. It also supports the ongoing Better Birth Environment campaign of the charity and helps us to ensure all parents have a life enhancing experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, by generating much needed income.?
