Nepalese doctors protest

25th August 2006

A strike by about 25 000 junior level health workers in Nepal has severely affected the delivery of healthcare services, especially in rural areas, which are predominantly staffed by more junior employees.

Doctors have been staging protests against the government's failure to fulfil their demands including at least two promotions during their 20 years of employment.
