New cancer programme, Wales

25th July 2008

Health minister Edwina Hart has set out the Welsh Assembly government's plans to improve cancer services.

She has published a programme of work for the next three years which is designed to prevent cancer, improve early detection of the disease, and increase access to treatment. Included in the plan is a review of genetic testing, a national survey to find out patients' experiences of cancer care, recommendations to the government on future waiting time targets and new standard for children and young people with cancer.
