New cardiac facility at Craigavon

27th June 2008

A new £2.6million cardiac catheterisation laboratory has been officially opened at the Craigavon Area Hospital in Northern Ireland.

It is part of a £35million programme of investment at Craigavon and will enable more patients to receive a range of cardiac procedures locally including diagnostics and insertions of stents and pacemakers.

Opening the centre, Northern Ireland’s health minister Michael McGimpsey said: “Heart disease is a leading cause of death in Northern Ireland and responsive cardiology and cardiac services are essential if we are to successfully tackle this disease.”
