New chair appointed to COM

20th November 2012

The Department of Health has announced the appointment of the new chair of the Committee on Mutagenicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COM).

The DH said Dr David Lovell will head the committee for three years, beginning from 1 November 2012. The DH's website explained that Dr Lovell, who was previously a member of the committee but has stepped down to take up his new role, will: "also be a member, ‘ex officio’, of the General Advisory Committee on Science (GACS), which provides independent expert advice to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on the FSA’s use of science."
