Said Sir Michael, “I am delighted to accept the challenge to lead the Trust.  Quality of service to patients and improved staff morale are extremely important. Clearly, a great deal of excellent clinical work is carried out by the Trust, and we must build on that, to improve the reputation of the entire organisation. In addition, I shall act on behalf of the Trust to ensure that we try to obtain our fair share of resources of both capital and revenue, to deliver good services in both rural and urban settings.â€?

Interim Chief Executive Iain McInnes welcomed the announcement, saying “This appointment is very good news for the Trust.  Sir Michael brings with him a wealth of valuable experience, and will undoubtedly be a great asset to the organisation.â€?
