New clinic for club drug help opened

27th September 2011

A clinic has opened at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London which aims to help users of so-called "club" drugs.

The clinic will treat people who have issues caused by the use of ecstasy, ketamine and mephedrone. Clinic founder Dr Owen Bowden-Jones said: "The health risks associated with excessive use of club drugs are under-estimated by many people. Little is known about the potential problems of the newer drugs. Many people experiencing club drug problems do not see current treatment services as well equipped to help them. As a result they do not seek treatment."
