New NHS facilities mapped out

28th February 2007

The government has published a map of more than 300 new hospital and primary care facilities which have opened in England since Labour came to power in 1997.

Building for the future: a snapshot of hospital builds and LIFT schemes across England features details of all the NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) schemes and the hospital building programme (HBP), as well as completed Private Finance Initiatives (PFI).

This includes 188 primary care facilities under LIFT, 109 hospitals under the HBP scheme and seven PFI hospitals.

The map breaks down the facilities by region, revealing the North West now boasts 42 LIFT facilities, while London has 29 completed HBP schemes.
