New 'rural practitioners' for Wales

8th December 2009

The Welsh Assembly has begun a rural health plan, the first of its kind, to provide healthcare to rural communities.

Final details of the new plan will be released in 2010. Health minister Edwina Hart said: "The geography of Wales poses special challenges in providing effective healthcare for people in rural communities. This plan looks at how the health needs of these communities can be met in ways which reflect the conditions and characteristics of rural Wales."
