NHS 24 to employ more staff over Christmas

The NHS 24 telephone advice service in Scotland has said it will be taking on more staff in order to deal with "increasing demand over the period".

The Scottish Health department has said press reports that it is making GP practices shut down over Christmas was not true. A spokesman said that GP surgeries "would be closed anyway and no orders had been given."
