NHS bosses tried to stop A&E petition

11th December 2009

A health trust in Nottinghamshire has admitted it tried to halt a petition against changes to a hospital.

Bosses at NHS Nottinghamshire County attempted to intervene after town councillor Laurence Goff collected 5,000 signatures on a petition against plans to replace the A&E department with a minor injuries department. They wanted him to stop the petition ahead of a public meeting on the issue saying it was misleading, but the councillor refused.  A 90-day consultation on the plans is under way.
