NHS Direct moved to Choices

14th May 2008

Part of the web-based patient advice and information service NHS Direct Online, looks as though it may be transferred to NHS Choices.

The move is not believed likely to impact NHS Direct’s core nurse-led national telephone advice service, which handles more than eight million calls a year. NHS Choices is run by Dr Foster on behalf of the Department of Health and has been promoted as a single hub for patient information and health transactions. The move is despite the success of NHS Direct Online, which has seen unique visitors grow from 1.4m to 2.6m.
