NHS Direct preferred supplier of NHS 111

20th August 2012

NHS Direct is set to be the preferred provider of the NHS 111 service in nine areas of the country.

Selected as the preferred bidder for four of the larger NHS 111 contracts in the West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Mersey, and Cumbria and Lancashire, it will also provide the service in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Somerset, North Essex, Sutton and Merton and South East London. That will see NHS Direct covering more than 30% of England's population as provider of the NHS 111 service.
