NHS e-records delay

The plan to computerise the NHS in England looks set to be hit by further delays after the Department of Health terminated a contract with one of the key suppliers, Fujitsu.

Negotiations over the specifics of the contract have broken down with Fujitsu, which had been due to implement the plan to create a single electronic records system for patients in the south of England. The £12.7 billion IT programme for the NHS, Connecting for Health, is already running four years late although it remains generally within budget.
