NHS maternity wards criticised

8th March 2010

A Freedom of Information request has shown that 2,792 complaints were made by mothers about their treatment on maternity wards.

The Daily Mail said that because only 111 out of 149 trusts responded to the request, if the data was extrapolated this would equate to 3,700 complaints or ten per day. Lib Dem health spokesman Norman Lamb said: "You have good and highly dedicated people but it goes wrong if they are constantly under pressure to meet administrative requirements rather than being able to deliver the best service."
