NHS preparing for winter

5th November 2012

The Department of Health has launched a campaign to help people get ready for the demands of the coming winter.

The campaign aims to improve flu vaccination figures and the Cold Weather Plan, run in conjunction with the Met Office and the Health Protection Agency, offers advice on how people can keep healthy in extremely cold weather. Public Health Minister Anna Soubry said: "We have taken the decision this year to run a flu campaign because too many people in at risk groups have not come forward for the jab yet, although local campaigns have been running for the past month. People may be lulled into a false sense of security about the seriousness of flu following a mild winter last year."
