NHS Scotland underspends by £26m

4th December 2008

Figures released by Audit Scotland have revealed that the NHS in Scotland underspent by £26 million in 2007/08 on a £10.1 billion budget.

It is the third consecutive year that NHS Scotland has not used all its funds, though the findings come with a warning from Audit Scotland that the coming years will be challenging because NHS bodies will receive smaller funding increases over the next three years than in recent years. Overall, the group said that the financial performance of NHS Scotland was good.
