NHS staff overpaid

2nd November 2007

Birmingham East and North Primary Care Trust has admitted to overpaying 331 employees by around £200,000 since 2004.

An "input error" meant that 331 staff were paid the wrong wages. 92 staff are still receiving too much pay. The trust declared that all staff would be paid at a normal rate in November and none would be asked to pay back the money.

Director of Resources Jonathan Tringham said: "It should be emphasised that the errors in pay relate to technical issues within our payroll provider and are not as a result of any fraudulent activities."
