Night care for elderly concern

29th April 2008

Research carried out by a team at the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships (CRFR) has suggested that night care of the elderly is far inferior to that provided during the day.

The team, based at the University of Edinburgh, called into question the amount of training received by night-shift workers and criticised the fact that few night inspections were carried out. Co-author Dr Heather Wilkinson, said: "To improve the quality of night-time care, it is essential that night-time staff are supported, trained and valued."
