'No link between quality and hospital death rates'

Research from the University of Birmingham has shown that there is no "clear" connection between hospital mortality rates and the "quality of care provided".

Hospital performance is ranked by the Good Hospital Guide according to mortality rates. The research showed that up to 30% of variation in rates was caused by the manner in which "hospitals record diagnoses".
