Norovirus caught by three million

11th January 2008

Latest figures from the Health Protection Agency suggest that almost three million people in England and Wales have been affected by the norovirus bug so far this winter.

Surveillance shows the number of cases of the winter vomiting bug are double those seen in 2006 with the HPA suggesting the norovirus season has started unusually early this year. Doctors are advising people to stay at home for 48 hours after their symptoms have gone to reduce the risk of the stomach bug spreading.
