Norovirus halts operations

4th January 2010

Non-urgent surgeries have been postponed at three hospitals in Cornwall because of an outbreak of norovirus.

The vomiting bug has affected wards at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, the West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance, and St Michael's Hospital in Hayle. A spokesperson for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust said postponing the surgeries would limit the amount of patients visiting the hospitals.
