Nurses confident public would support strike

Midland nurses would be backed by the public if they opt to strike over pay, officials claimed as a ballot bagan over pay dispute.  According to a YouGov poll published today, three in four poeple (74 per cent) would back industrial action by nurses provided it did not affect patient care. The independent survey of more than 2,300 people, commissioned by the Royal College of Nursing, also found the vast majoirty (82 per cent) felt a 1.9 percent pay award for nurses was unfair
