Nurses praised for follow-up care

Interviews carried out with 27 colorectal cancer patients have revealed that while nurses were commended for their high standards of care, doctors fared less well. 

Researchers wrote in the Journal of Clinical Nursing that patients found doctors did not give them enough information and did not address their concerns properly. However, the patients said that those of them who were given follow-up appointments with specialist colorectal nurses were given care which was "pitched at each individual’s level of understanding".
