7th December 2010

A survey has revealed that many nurses working within the NHS have considered leaving the health service.

More than 60% of nurses surveyed by Incomes Data Research said they had thought "fairly or very" seriously about leaving in the past year. Of the nurses who had thought about handing in their notices, 78% said stress was a factor, 54% said NHS restructuring was the cause, while 43% blamed a lack of staff,  26% mentioned working hours and 37% blamed target setting.
