Obese children offered help

20th January 2009

A £1.4 million programme by the Welsh Assembly is to offer 2,000 obese children the chance to try a ten-week course to help them lose weight.

Chief medical officer for Wales Dr Tony Jewell said: "Welsh children's rates of obesity are already too high and are increasing. Overweight or obese children are also more likely to be overweight or obese adults. More than half, 57%, of all adults in Wales are already overweight or obese."
