Obese man warned diet or die
7th December 2006A GP has told a 41-stone patient that he will be dead within a decade unless he loses weight.
21-year-old County Durham student Colin Ord has a body mass index (BMI) of 65 and has been advised to shed 24 stone (152.4kg) or die before his 30th birthday.
The stark warning has led him to cut out is former diet of pizzas, chips, pasties and chocolate, for a better diet and three gym visits a week.
He has turned down surgical options and hopes to slim down to 17 within the next two years.
Mr Ord, who weighed 33 stone (209.6kg) when he was just 16, said he was devastated by the prediction which has motivated him to take immediate action.
