Obese nurses get help to lose weight

7th April 2009

The government wants to encourage obese nursing staff to lose weight as part of its drive against increasing obesity levels in the country.

A report on the Department of Health's obesity strategy found that over 50% of NHS staff were overweight and around 300,000 were obese. Special diet programmes will be drawn up to aid staff who give advice to families about obesity. A "healthy living" promotion will target 2,000 staff in the poorest parts of England.
