OFT to investigate private healthcare

The Office of Fair Trading is arranging an investigation to find out how efficiently the £5.5 billion private healthcare market is operating.

The OFT are planning on starting the investigation in spring 2011. Sonya Branch, OFT senior director of services and public markets said: "We are keen to focus on whether patients and buyers of private healthcare, including the NHS, are getting the full benefit of choice and competition."
