One in four say hospitals not up to standard

29th November 2011

A survey by Dr Foster research has found that 26% of people would not recommend their local hospital to a friend.

The researchers looked at the responses of 8,864 people on the NHS Choices website and found 56% would make a recommendation while the rest did not have an opinion about it. The largest proportion of complaints received by the website concerned hospital cleanliness and 72% of patients who complained said they had been "left in the dark" by healthcare staff about their condition and treatment.
