One in four women have underage sex

16th December 2011

Latest figures from the NHS have suggested that more than a quarter of young women today are having under-age sex.

The data shows that 27% of 16 to 24 year-olds admitted they were 15 or under when they had sex for the first time with one in eight of this age group have already had sex with at least 10 different partners. By comparison, just 4% of women now aged 55 to 64 first had sex when they were under-age. This rises to 10% of 45 to 54 year-olds, and 14% of 35 to 44 year-olds.
