Online mental health checker launched

6th October 2009

NHS Direct has put together a mental health symptoms checker, which is available online, in response to calls from 37,500 people about their depression and anxiety in the first half of 2009.

The increase in the amount of people who called in is 5,000 greater than the numbers recorded for 2008. Spokeswoman Jacqui Jedrzejewski said: "The mental health checker provides an approachable channel for people to address their problems. The aim is to get people on the right track so that they can get ongoing support."
