Only 20% of frontline NHS staff have flu jab

7th January 2011

Only one in five of frontline NHS staff has taken up flu vaccinations this winter.

The figure was described as a “disappointingly low” proportion by NHS chief executive Sir David Nicholson with just 20% of health workers vaccinated against seasonal flu and the H1N1 strain. However, the figure is a rise on last winter when just 18.3% of relevant staff arranged to be vaccinated. With signs of the outbreak reaching its peak, Sir David said he wanted to see the figure much higher next year.
