Only one PCT signs up for LIFT scheme

25th February 2010

Only one primary care trust has taken up a government scheme aimed at speeding up funding of new GP premises.

The Department of Health has admitted that no new premises are yet being built through the Express LIFT scheme, which was launched in March last year and intended to create a national list of firms who could be procured for projects in as little as two months, rather than the nearly two years typical of LIFT public-private partnerships. The only trust to be involved so far is Cumbria PCT.
