OOH care must improve

10th February 2010

Health minister Mike O’Brien has said that out-of-hours medical services are still "not good enough."

His comments come in the wake of the unlawful killing of patient David Gray, 70, in Cambridgeshire in February 2008 who died after German locum Dr Daniel Ubani – who worked for the private firm Take Care Now which provided the out-of-hours service - gave him 10 times the recommended dose of diamorphine. The Conservatives have warned that there are "significant failings" in the provision of services across England.
